Spring-Green Enterprises is the parent company of progressive national service providers and industry leading franchisors, in need of a Chief Financial Officer based out of our Naperville, IL location.  Our business is growing, and we need you to grow with us. This key position will oversee and direct the Accounting, Human Resources, and Risk Management operations of the company and its subsidiaries, including the Spring-Green Lawn Care and Pet Butler franchise systems.

Job Description:
Direct the organization’s financial planning and accounting practices as well as develop effective relationships with lending institutions.  Aid in the establishment of financial strategies aligned with organizational objectives. Develop and monitor control systems designed to preserve company assets and report on financial performance. In addition to the Accounting function, oversee Human Resources and Risk Management for the organization.

Responsibilities:
Financial:

  • Develop, implement, and direct the organization’s fiscal function and financial performance.
  • Participate in annual and quarterly strategic planning meetings, helping to establish financial strategies aligned with organizational objectives by contributing financial and accounting information and analysis.
  • Evaluate and advise on the financial impact of the organization’s long-range planning and the introduction of new programs and strategies, helping to identify monetary resources and forecast capital, facility, and staff requirements.
  • Oversee banking relationships, arranging for debt and equity financing as needed.
  • Manage the capital request and budgeting process.  Develop and implement financial/budget training for department leaders as needed.
  • Supervise due diligence process and assist as needed in the negotiation of acquisitions.
  • Organize, plan and oversee the budgeting process for the organization, including its franchise system subsidiaries and their advertising funds, and the company-owned operational subsidiaries.
  • Develop, implement, enhance and enforce financial policies and procedures within generally accepted accounting principles and corporate guidelines to improve the overall effectiveness of the organization.
  • Oversee the company’s transaction processing systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Oversee preparation and issuance of monthly financial statements, financial packages and other informational reports/analysis.
  • Work with the franchise operations team to develop and implement improved systems for monitoring and communication of franchise owner financial performance.

Risk Management:

  • Oversee casualty insurance and workers comp programs.
  • Maintain appropriate insurance coverage for the organization.
  • Understand and mitigate key elements of the company’s risk profile.
  • Construct and monitor reliable control systems.
  • Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and governmental agencies.
  • Manage any third parties to which risk management-related functions have been outsourced.

Human Resources:

  • Oversee employee benefit plans, consulting with the executive team to determine health insurance, 401K investment plan options or other benefit programs.
  • Manage any third parties to which financial or human resources-related functions have been outsourced.

Required skills, experience and education:

  • Master’s degree preferred in finance, accounting or MBA (CPA or Certified Management Accountant)
  • 7 to 10 years of progressive financial, management and Human Resources experience with the day-to-day financial operations of an organization of at least 50-200 employees.  
  • Bachelor’s degree required in finance, accounting or related field or 10-15 years of related experience.
